Uganda Launches Gorilla and Chimp Census in Bwindi.
WWF in collaboration with the Greater Virunga Trans-boundary Collaboration (GVTC) with partners have begun a new count of mountain gorillas (Gorilla beringei beringei) in Bwindi, Uganda. The Executive Director (UWA), Dr. James Musinguzi, has officially launched the Bwindi-Sarambwe mountain gorilla and the inaugural chimpanzee census 2025 at the Institute of Tropical Forest Conservation (ITFC) in Ruhija, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Uganda is set to host the 9th edition of the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) 2025, a premier government event showcasing the nation’s rich tourism potential and opening doors to new investment and collaboration opportunities. Organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities (MTWA) in partnership with key agencies, the expo aims to strengthen Uganda’s position on the global tourism map.

To strengthen and enhance the growing tourism industry while improving customer service standards in the parks, UWA has identified potential investment opportunities in services, products, infrastructure, and accommodation facilities. There are opportunities for the development of new ecotourism projects, both within and outside the national parks, supported by the private sector or through collaborations between public and private entities.
